Top 6 U.S. Destinations for a Christmas Vacation

Planning a trip within the United States for the holiday season? You’re not the only one. Government statistics show that the stretch between Christmas and New Year’s is the busiest travel time of the year.

But, how do you find the perfect destination for your trip? These are the top locations for your next Christmas vacation.

1. Washington, D.C.

Are you a big fan of history and politics? Why not head to the nation’s capital this Christmas season.

Check out the National Christmas Tree in President’s Park so you can feel patriotic while celebrating the holidays. Beautiful light installations are set up all over the city, including at the Zoo. And, make sure you don’t miss the Wharf’s Holiday Boat Parade!

2. Nashville, Tennessee

If you’re looking to party, Nashville is the city for you. The weather in this southern city is one of the more temperate options, so you won’t be freezing on your Christmas vacation.

The country Christmas held at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel is a must for people who like glitz and country music. And, make sure you don’t miss out on any of the many honky-tonks while you’re in the area!

3. Seattle, Washington

Christmas vacations with families can be harder to plan than with friends or singletons. That’s where Seattle can be a saving grace. The city offers Christmas fun for the whole family, and the moderate weather can be just right if you can’t agree on hot or cold destinations.

The Gingerbread Village at the Sheraton is a beautiful and adorable site that’s loved by all each Christmas season.

4. Colorado Springs, Colorado

For outdoor lovers who want to enjoy the Christmas season, make sure you check out Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs isn’t the only option in Colorado, either. Big skiing fans should also consider Aspen.

If you’re more of a city person, head over to Denver. Plus, you can always try camping in this wonderful state.

If you’re looking for something wilder, you should check out a campsite in Australia or some other faraway country!

5. Branson, Missouri

If you’re on a budget, Branson is a family-friendly option for your Christmas vacation that won’t break the bank. Branson offers one of the best drive-through light tours in the country, great for families taking a road trip for their Christmas holiday.

And, while you’re in the vicinity, take a ride on Branson Scenic Railway’s answer to the Polar Express while you’re in the area!

6. New York City, New York

You haven’t lived until you’ve had at least one Christmas in New York City. You need to check out the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and go skating at the Wollman Rink.

Stroll down Fifth Avenue to enjoy the many Christmas displays in the department store windows. Truly, a vacation in New York is the perfect way to enjoy your Christmas.
