Where to Ski In 2015

Anyone who has been skiing will agree that there’s nothing in the world quite like it.

Clear blue skies, jagged mountains and pristine snow, all make for a breath-taking backdrop and the adrenaline you get from hurtling down a mountain-side is truly addictive.

If you’re thinking about booking a skiing holiday, here are some of the best destinations for 2015.

Switzerland

Ski resorts in Switzerland may not be cheap, but they do offer some great facilities and guaranteed snow.

One of the most famous Swiss resorts is St. Moritz. Twice playing host to the Winter Olympics and a regular location for international skiing competitions, St. Moritz is a truly world-class destination.

Another bonus of this Alpine resort is that thanks to its position, it enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year, creating perfect conditions for your skiing holiday.

France

France has long been a firm favourite with the international skiing set and for good reason.

Stunning scenery, fantastic resorts and great food at the end of the day, all make France an ideal winter destination.

One of the best resorts in the French Alps is Val d’Isère. Host of the 1992 Winter Olympics, the skiing in Val d’Isère is among the best in the world.

If you’re exhausted after a day of skiing, Val d’Isère has a great selection of spas available for a bit of much-deserved pampering.

Japan

Japan may not be the first place that springs to mind when planning your skiing trip, but the mountains of Hokkaido, Japan’s most northerly island, offer some great skiing and a luxurious slice of Japanese culture.

Located in the centre of the island, Sahoro is a resort that offers top-class skiing in a relaxing atmosphere.

Lying on the edge of a forest, high up in the mountains, the surroundings are breath-taking and after a week of living the Japanese lifestyle, you simply won’t want to leave.

Once you’ve enjoyed a week or two of skiing, Hokkaido has more to offer. If you’re visiting in February, head to Sapporo for their annual ice festival: a once-in-a-lifetime experience that should not be missed.

A plentiful supply of snow and a slope steep enough to ski down are the minimum requirements you’ll have for a skiing holiday, but with beautiful landscapes, great hotels and satisfying food, these resorts will give you some of the best skiing holidays available in 2015.
