Exploring Texas: 2 Top Tips for the Best Vacation

The Lone Star State has been a favorite for vacation destinations for many years. While many travelers associate it with cowboys, there’s a lot more to the state than merely this. It’s a vast state, the second-largest in America, so there’s a lot to explore! If you’re planning a getaway to the United States and are looking for inspiration on the best area to visit, look no further than Texas.

Which City to Visit First

Texas is home to a variety of famous cities, so whatever kind of getaway you’re hoping for, there will be a city to suit your needs.

Dallas: Located in North Texas, this could be the perfect location for those looking for a metropolitan city break with an awe-inspiring skyline.

San Antonio: Situated in south-central Texas, this is a hotspot for history buffs, as it’s home to The Alamo Mission museum.

Waco: This may be a lesser-known city in central Texas, but it is home to the bones of Columbian mammoths in the Waco Mammoth National Monument.

Of course, you may wish to visit more than one of these outstanding cities, and one of the best ways to navigate Texas is in your own vehicle. It may not be possible to travel here in your own car, so renting a comfortable car is highly recommended. If you’re flying into one of the airports in the state, including San Antonio and Dallas Ft Worth International Airport, E-Z Rental Cars will be there waiting.

What You Need to See

Texas has a rich, varied history and culture, with a number of notable sites visitors flock to year after year. These sites include:

Space Center Houston, Houston: This site is the official visitor center of NASA Johnson Space Center and tops the list of Houston’s must-see attractions. It houses over 400 space artifacts, including spacecraft and the largest collection of moon rocks available for the public to see. Recently, the space center has added a new exhibit: Mission Mars. Fun for both adults and children, you will experience a virtual Martian sunset and feel the texture of rock cliffs in a fully interactive exhibition.

The Alamo, San Antonio: As mentioned above, The Alamo is a must-see for history lovers. It’s the site of one of the most famous battles of American history and is open daily for visitors. It’s one of the most visited attractions in Texas and was named a World Heritage Site in 2017. You will find it in downtown San Antonio, and you are able to stand in the same spot as the Texas defenders in 1836.

Moody Mansion, Galveston: Architecture and interior design fans flock to this iconic building. It celebrates Victorian architecture and was the home to the powerful Moody family in the 1800s. The home has since been restored after surviving the 1900 hurricane and visitors can tour the 31-room mansion daily by themselves or opt for a behind the scenes tour on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Palo Duro Canyon, near Amarillo & Canyon: For those looking for an out-of-this-world natural site, don’t miss this canyon, the second largest in the US. It’s a state park which is accessible by car from the nearby city of Amarillo and the town of Canyon. The multi-colored layers of rock are truly breathtaking and are well worth a visit.
